HOW STUDENTS ARE TAUGHT

Years 7 + 8 – mixed ability

Year 9 – sets allocated according to average mark of three assessment tasks.

           

EQUIPMENT STUDENTS WILL NEED:  

pens, pencils, colouring pencils, sharpener, rubber, glue stick, rule.

 

ASSESSMENT ARRANGEMENTS 

  • Assessment each term
  • Targets are set after each assessment
  • Self assessment, peer assessment and assessment and takes the form of Learning activities such as hot seating, mini whiteboards etc.

 

STUDENTS WILL BE REWARDED FOR EFFORT AND ACHIEVEMENT WITH:

  • Gs in diary;
  • “da iawn” stamps in diary;
  • work displayed;
  • students sent to other teachers in the Department to show work and have further praise.
  • Postcards sent home.

Key Stage 4

 

 

Full course – pupils study the Applied Welsh course for five lessons a fortnight at Foundation Tier (grades C to G) and Higher Tier (grades A* to D).

Short course – pupils study Welsh Second Language course for one lesson per week at Foundation Tier (grades C to G).
