Welcome to the Head Teacher's Page

Croeso - welcome to my page!
I have been Headteacher at Tenby Junior Community School since September 2001. There have been quite a few changes at the school since then, not only in staff but also in the way the school building has changed. You can read in detail about the changes by clicking on the  the 'History' page on the far left.
Tenby Junior Community School is a very active one. The staff are committed to providing opportunities for all pupils to develop not only their learning skills, but also to grow in self esteem and confidence.  The pupils are encouraged to promote their school motto through the values of caring and sharing; this is achieved through the many fund raising activities that are held at school for a range of charities, including Cancer Research and Ty Hafan (the Children's Hospice). Each year the pupils raise substantial funds for those who are less fortunate than themselves.
I strongly believe that as a community school, the partnership between  staff, parents and the organisations within the community is crucial to our success. The school operates an 'open-door' policy for parents to meet with staff. Visitors from the community are regularly invited in to speak to pupils and there is also a band of willing volunteers who support us each week. The Parent Teachers' Association has worked over the years to raise funds for the pupils' benefit. The school library is a wonderful example of their fundraising efforts.
Our latest initiative at school is to promote health and well being. This is being achieved through encouraging pupils to walk, bike or scoot to school. The school has erected a  Bike shed at the back of the school so that bikes are kept safe and dry. A new route has been developed through Greenhill school for pupils to walk, scoot and bike safely. The school and PTA have recently  raised funds towards the erection of an Adventure Play area in the school grounds to aid problem solving and team building skills. The whole structure and construction cost £13000; thanks also to Rotary and Chevron for their contributions towards the Adventure Play area.
